Open Enrollment - Medical / Dental

As of 12/01/2009 there will be a rate change in our employee health coverage. Each year our insurance broker, Comprehensive Benefits, performs an audit of all our policies to help control corporate health care expenses. As the result of this year’s audit, we will be keeping CareFirst BCBS as carrier but Global CI will not be contributing to your HSA plan. Instead we will be taking this contribution and we will be using this to lower your bi-weekly medical deduction to offset some of the increased costs.
The coverage is nearly identical to the current plan, with two exceptions:

  • Global will no longer be contributing to your personal HSA account
  • Global CI will take the contribution amount and use this towards your deductible. The amount will depend on the plan you are enrolled in; up to $50.00 bi-weekly.
Although having no HSA employer contribution is not a positive change, there are other aspects of the change that compensate. We can afford to keep our private major medical plan with CareFirst BCBS and you can decide what dollar amount you would like to contribute, bi-weekly, to your HSA account up to the maximum allowed amount. Without this plan readjustment, we probably would have been forced into a 20% rate increase across the board. The new plan permits you to keep lower rates while still being able to contribute to your personal HSA account.

The modified coverage will be in force effective 12/01/2009. Below are the new rates for Global CI medical coverage. The rates are based on a bi-weekly deduction.
